FREE WEST PAPUA : Papua and West Papua Development Enter Priority Programs


Jakarta, PAPUANEWS.ID - The government announced 5 National Priorities outlined in 24 Priority Programs in the Government Work Plan (RKP) 2019 as stated by the Minister of PPN / Head of Bappenas, Bambang PS Brodjonegoro.

These five National Priorities include Human Development through Poverty Reduction and Basic Service Improvement, Intergovernmental Gap Reduction through Strengthening Connectivity and Marginism, Strengthening Economic Value and Employment Creation through Agriculture, Industry, Tourism and Other Productive Services, Strengthening Food Security, and Water Resources, and National Security Stability and Electoral Success.

Furthermore, it is said that the national priority of inter-regional gap reduction is done through strengthening connectivity and maritime, the government. The five priority programs are Increased Connectivity and Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Acceleration of Development of Papua and West Papua, Acceleration of Development of Disadvantaged and Disadvantaged Areas, Disaster Relief and Logistics System Improvement.

This priority is done because several things such as uneven development, high logistics prices, low accessibility, preparedness of officials in the face of disaster is also not adequate facilities and infrastructure both in agriculture and fisheries.

According to him, the Priority Program for the Acceleration of Development of Papua and West Papua to be undertaken, among others, is to improve access and quality of health services, and increase access and quality of Papua contextual education services.

"The other three priority activities are the development of leading commodities and upstream downstream tourism, improvements in basic infrastructure, ICT, and connectivity between provinces, districts, districts and villages, as well as improved governance and institutions," he said in a press release on Saturday (5/5 ).

The 2019 RKP covers the development macro target of 2019, among others, targeting economic growth of 5.4-5.8%; poverty rate 8,5-9,5%; gini ratio 0.38-0.39; Human Development Index (HDI) 71.89; and open unemployment rate from 4.8 to 5.2%.

In the 2019 RKP will focus on optimizing the use of all resources (government, private, banking), to pursue the achievement of national development goals and targets in the RPJMN 2015-2019.
