Transportation to Raja Ampat

To get to Raja Ampat, we must first take a flight to Sorong.
As the main hub to Raja Ampat, Domu Eduard Osok Airport
in Sorong serves flights to a number of major cities in
Papua and Indonesia including Manokwari, Jayapura, Ambon,
Makassar, Manado, and Jakarta.

In this case, Garuda Indonesia airline operates daily flights
for Jakarta-Sorong. Meanwhile, Sriwijaya Air, Nam Air and Batik
Air fly twice a day between Jakarta and Sorong.
From Sorong, a small plane will take us to Waisai, which
is the capital of Raja Ampat regency. Alternatively, we can take
the ferry from Sorong port to Waisai and vice versa. This journey
takes about 2 - 3 hours.

To serve flights to and from the city of Sorong, Marinda
Airport in Waisai was built in 2012. Some flights that serve this
route include Wings Air, which serves daily flights Sorong-Raja
Ampat. Meanwhile, Susi Air serves only two flights a week, which
is Monday and Saturday.

Currently, Marinda Airport is still in the development and
expansion stage and is relatively far from any public facilities.
Therefore, tourists who will visit the Raja Ampat are advised
to prepare food and drinks while waiting for the flight back to
Sorong
