Minister of BUMN Will Support Full of Papua Coffee Farmers

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Rini M Soemarno is scheduled to monitor economic development especially from the aspect of equity and review social justice program equalizing the price of basic commodities in the forefront, terluarm and lagging areas (3T) in Papua Province.
“The plan on November 20, the Minister of SOEs will dialogue with two groups of participants of cultivation and postharvest training from the central District of Yagara and Wolo District and review the program of price cement equalization and simultaneously dialogue with the community,” said Head of Public Relations Jayawijaya Meitty W Nahuway to reporters in Papua, Sunday (19/11).
However, Meitty said, there is still a possibility of changing the schedule of State Enterprises Minister’s visit, as there will still be coordination meeting today.
Rini is scheduled to review the coffee garden and hand over the Arabica coffee peeler and dryer for coffee farmers in Jayawijaya.
However, before heading to Jayawijaya regency on the same day, Meitty said, Rini is scheduled to visit Oksibil, the capital of Pegunungan Bintang regency to review premium agent and diesel oil (APMS) and to conduct a one-stop fuel price.
Rini is also planned with the community of Puncak Jaya Regency to declare ‘banggamenyedkopkopipapua’ and submit assistance, review the price reduction of three basic items by PPI and review the cement price equalization by Semen Indonesia.
Before returning to Jayapura Regency on Tuesday (21/11), Rini will review the benefits of branchless-banking by Bank Mandiri in Puncak Jaya Regency at around 11.30 local time.
In August, Rini had appealed to local farmers to increase the number of Arabica coffee production so that their income could be better than before.
From the discussion with coffee farmers at the time, Rini said that the obstacle that inhibits coffee farmers is due to low marketing.
“One of the problems is that the cost of transportation to the city is expensive, so we are looking for ways to make Jayawijaya community better,” said Meitty.
