Industry and Trade Office Request Sea Toll Transport Prioritize Submit Staple Materials

The ranks of the Industry Trade Service (Disperindag) are requesting the services of sea toll transport with the aim of Tanjung Perak Surabaya to the port of Biak Numfor District, Papua to prioritize the delivery of staples for the purpose of welcoming the Christmas and New Year celebrations on 1 January 2018.

"The demand for basic commodities in preparation for the national religious day of Christmas and the new year has increased 1.5 to 2 times the normal requirement so that for sea freight transport prefer the staple goods," said Kadisperindag Biak Widiarto contacted in Biak on Sunday 26/11/2017), responding to the shipment of sea freight to welcome Christmas.

He mentioned in the Presidential Regulation No. 106 of 2015 as well as revision of Presidential Regulation No. 70 of 2017 on the load of sea toll transport to bring staple materials and strategic importance from the West to eastern Indonesia.

Especially for strategic materials other than basic materials, continued Widiarto, such as building materials can be sent using sea freight but must be in accordance with the request and recommendation of the local district government through the relevant technical agencies.

Kadisperindag Widiarto admitted that since the sea toll transportation provided by the central government through the Ministry of Transportation has a positive impact on the destination area as it can meet the basic needs of the local community.

Biak Numfor district government through Disperindag, continued Widiarto, has asked PT Pelni branch of Biak as a regulator of sea freight transport managers can prioritize the delivery of staples to the port of Biak.

"Yes the waiting list for the shipment of Surabaya-Wasior toll freight shuttles, Manokwari-Nabire-Serui and Biak reaches a thousand containers while the capacity is 180 containers," said Kadisperindag Widiarto.

Meanwhile, the head of PT Pelni Biak Bambang admitted that the sea toll transport service is a government program as the policy of President Joko Widodo and Wapes Jusuf Kalla by providing subsidized public transportation in the foremost, outermost and lagging areas (3T).
